It is normal to have aching or soreness after your procedure around the area of injection. Do not worry if your pain feels worse after your procedure for a few days as this can happen.

• Keep the injection area dry for 24 hours


• Please take all normal medications as prescribed

• If your pain feels better after your intervention, please do not increase or overdo any of your normal activities

• You can return to work as normal the following day. However, this varies between patients depending on the nature of their work. Please discuss with your Consultant/GP/Pain Clinical Nurse Specialist if you have any concerns

• If you have had sedation for your procedure, please allow up to 72 hours before driving, and only restart driving if you feel safe to do so.

You will have a telephone follow up approximately 8 – 12 weeks after your single or set of procedures. If you do not receive an appointment or wish to change the time or day, please contact our secretarial team on 020 8909 5417.

• Breathlessness

• New numbness, pins and needles

• Having urinary or bowel changes, i.e. retention or being incontinent

• Redness, swelling, increased pain at the injection site, any ooze or high temperature.

If you need urgent advice/care, please attend/call emergency services on 999 or 111.
