Our new electronic health record system
On 23 November, we will launch Epic, our new electronic health record (EHR) across our hospital. Epic will bring together many historic IT systems and paper processes from across our hospital services and allow us to keep your information in one secure place. It means that staff can always access the complete, accurate and up-to-date information needed to ensure the best care for patients.
Epic will transform how we work and improve the way we deliver patient care. However, as old systems are switched off, and our new system goes live, you might notice some initial delays and longer waiting times as we get used to the new system.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding as we adapt to using this new system. If you have any questions, please speak to a member of staff.
In-person appointments
There may be some delays and longer waiting times as we get used to the new system, particularly during November and December. Please allow a little more time at appointments for checking-in, waiting for us to see you, and for your appointments. We’re sorry for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
As we learn the new system, you may also notice more staff in our clinical areas than usual. This is to support our services to continue running as smoothly as possible.
MyCare
MyCare RNOH is our patient app and online service.
Patients can pre-register for an account, and the system will go live on Sunday 23 November.
Using MyCare RNOH on your mobile (through the MyChart app) or computer (in your browser), you will be able to securely view and manage information about your health and care at RNOH.
EpicCare Link
As part of the Epic implementation, from Sunday 23 November 2025, we will be using EpicCare Link to receive tertiary referrals. Regular referrers have been sent details inviting them to pre-register. If you would like to pre-register for an account prior to the system going live on 23 November, please follow the instructions here.
General Practitioners will continue to refer to RNOH using the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS).
Epic FAQs
Epic is the name of our new electronic health record (EHR). It will replace paper records and many of the current systems at RNOH with a single, fully integrated clinical record. It means that staff can always access the complete, accurate and up-to-date information needed to ensure the best care for patients. New hardware and software will help us to speed up routine tasks such as observations, and real-time data will help our teams to make informed, instant decisions to ensure outstanding patient care.
