Duke of Gloucester is a ward inside the Stanmore Building with 16 ensuite rooms and four bays, each with four beds. When recovering from surgery or having investigations performed, you will want care, rest and comfort. Whether you are here for a day or a number of weeks, we want you and your family to feel well informed and understand what is happening. We aim to provide a clean and safe environment to maintain your privacy and dignity.

We hope you will not hesitate to ask for as much information and advice as you require about any aspect of your care here on Duke of Gloucester Ward.

 

Our visiting times are: 13:00 - 19:00.

We ask that there is one visitor per patient. In exceptional circumstances more than one visitor will be allowed.This needs to be discussed prior to the visit with the Ward Manager or Nurse in charge.  

Please do not visit if you have any of the following symptoms:

  • a high temperature or shivering
  • a new continuous cough (coughing a lot, three or more coughing episodes in 24 hrs)
  • loss or change in sense of smell and taste
  • shortness of breath
  • feeling tired or exhausted
  • an aching body (i.e. joints or muscle pain)
  • a headache
  • a sore throat
  • a blocked or runny nose
  • loss of appetite
  • diarrhoea
  • feeling sick or being sick

If you arrive with any of these symptoms you will be asked to leave.

During your visit we will advise you to wear a face mask to help us to protect our patients and staff.

No visitors during meal times (12:00-13:00 & 17:00-18:00).

Please report to the Ward Clerk on Reception prior to entering the ward.  If the Reception desk is unattended, contact the ward on 020 8909 5485.

Beverages are served at interval throughout the day

Phones/internet

Phone calls and internet access can be made via the bedside entertainment system. Patients are allowed to use their mobiles, and some patients bring in laptops / DVD players which they watch while using headphones. You can connect to the WiFi service for patients

Shower rooms

Each single room has an ensuite bathroom with toilet. The four bedded bays have their own bathroom and toilet.

Will be delivered to your bedside should any arrive for you.

Nurse’s handover

This takes place at 07.30 - 08.00 each morning and 19.30 – 20.00 each evening at the patient’s bedside and the patient can be involved in this discussion.

Doctor's ward round

Large round on Friday morning. Other teams at other times during the week.
