Johnson Gbayike.pngWe’re delighted to share that Johnson Gbayike, a Physiotherapist at RNOH, has been named as the winner of the prestigious Tricia Moate Award, alongside Jenny,
a Sarcoma Cancer Support Worker at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.

The award, presented by Sarcoma UK, recognises allied health professionals and nurses who go above and beyond in supporting people affected by sarcoma.

Johnson’s win celebrates his outstanding dedication to improving patient care, particularly through his ongoing project to develop paediatric-friendly rehabilitation resources for children and young people undergoing sarcoma surgery. This initiative, delivered in collaboration with the Bone Cancer Research Trust, aims to build confidence, support personalised recovery, and improve engagement with physiotherapy following surgery.

Johnson shared, “It truly means a lot. I feel incredibly honoured and grateful to have received the Tricia Moate Award from Sarcoma UK, and I’d especially like to thank my team and manager for their support behind this recognition. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved so far as a team and excited for what this opportunity will bring.”

As part of the award, Johnson will attend the British Sarcoma Group Conference next year - a fantastic opportunity to share insights and continue driving improvements in care.

Congratulations, Johnson! Your compassion, innovation and commitment inspire us all.
