Today marks Allied Health Professions (AHP) Day.
What are AHPs? AHPs make up the third-largest clinical workforce within the health service. They are healthcare professionals who provide a wide range of services for patient treatment, rehabilitation, and care. AHPs include physiotherapists, dietitians, radiographers, prosthetists and orthotists, occupational therapists, podiatrists, speech and language therapists, and operating department practitioners.
Today, AHPs from across RNOH gathered together - with plenty of pizza - to show their support and appreciation of each other and their critical contribution to the work RNOH does. We could not do it without them.
Our Director of Allied Health Professions, John Doyle, shared the following message to mark this celebration of the fantastic work they do:
'I want to take the opportunity to recognise the outstanding contribution of our AHP colleagues across RNOH.
'Our AHPs play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. Whether in diagnostics, rehabilitation, perioperative support, or community services, your work is essential to the outcomes we achieve and the experience we provide. You bring expertise, innovation, and a collaborative spirit that strengthens our multidisciplinary teams and improves lives every day. We are surrounded by AHPs leading the way in clinical excellence, research, education, and service transformation—all of which continues to inspire those around them and raise the standard of care across the Trust and beyond.
'As Director of Allied Health Professions, I’m proud to represent such a diverse and skilled workforce. Each profession brings its own strengths, and together you form a dynamic and forward-thinking group that continues to shape the future of musculoskeletal care.
'Thank you for your hard work, your commitment to patients, the support you provide to your fellow colleagues and the impact you make across the Trust. Today we celebrate your contribution—and I look forward to continuing our work together to further raise the profile and influence of AHPs both within RNOH and across the wider system.'
John Doyle, Director of Allied Health Professions
