From 21 July, patients can now use their NHS App login details to access MyCare.

This makes it easier to manage your hospital appointments and information online, without needing a separate MyCare password.

What's changing?

If you already have an NHS App login, you can now use the same credentials to sign in to MyCare.

If you do not yet have a MyCare account, selecting "Continue with NHS Login" on the MyCare sign-in page may automatically create a MyCare account for you, provided you meet the eligibility requirements.

Benefits of using NHS Login with MyCare

  • No separate MyCare username or password to remember
  • Seamless access between the NHS App and MyCare
  • Easier management of appointments and healthcare information online
  • Secure access using your NHS login credentials

How to access MyCare

You can access MyCare in three ways:

  1. Sign in directly through the MyCare login page using "Continue with NHS Login"
  2. Use your existing MyCare username and password (if you already have one)
  3. Open an appointment in the NHS App and follow the link to MyCare for additional appointment information and online services

Who can use this service?

Patients who have an NHS login can use it to access MyCare.

Automatic MyCare account creation is available for eligible patients only. To be eligible:

  • An email address must be recorded on your hospital record
  • Your service must be included in the rollout
  • You must not be part of a patient group currently excluded from automatic account creation (for example, some paediatric patients)

What happens if a MyCare account is created for me?

If your MyCare account is created automatically through NHS Login, you will receive:

  • A welcome email
  • Information about how to use MyCare
  • Details about electronic communications you may receive through MyCare in the future

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I sign in to MyCare using my NHS login?

Yes. Simply select "Continue with NHS Login" on the MyCare sign-in page and enter your NHS login credentials.

Do I need a separate MyCare username and password?

No. If you access MyCare using NHS Login, you will continue to use your NHS login credentials whenever you sign in.

Will the NHS App replace MyCare?

No. MyCare remains our patient portal and online service. The NHS App provides another way to access healthcare information and can now connect directly to MyCare, making it easier to move between the two services.

Do I need both the NHS App and MyCare?

The two services offer different features. The NHS App shows information from a range of NHS services, while MyCare provides additional tools and information to help you manage your care with RNOH.

What is the difference between MyCare and the NHS App?

MyCare is our hospital patient app and online service to help you manage your care at our hospitals. You access MyCare on a computer at MyCare - Login Page and the mobile app version runs on Epic’s MyChart app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. For more guidance, see: MyCare RNOH :: Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital

The NHS App is a national service that brings together information from different NHS services. See: NHS App - NHS

How does the RNOH know which MyCare account belongs to me?

Your NHS number is used to match your NHS Login and hospital records to the correct MyCare account, helping to prevent duplicate accounts from being created.

Is my information secure?

Yes. NHS Login and MyCare both use secure authentication processes to help protect your personal information.

Can I still access MyCare without NHS Login?

Yes. You can continue to sign in directly through the MyCare website using your existing MyCare credentials if you prefer.

Why can't I create a MyCare account using NHS Login?

There are several possible reasons:

  • You do not have an email address recorded on your hospital record
  • Your service is not yet included in the rollout
  • You are part of a patient group that is currently excluded from automatic account creation

What information will I see in the NHS App?

For participating clinics, upcoming outpatient appointments will appear in the NHS App. Selecting an appointment will take you to MyCare, where you can view additional information and manage your appointment online.

What should I do if my appointment information looks incorrect?

Please check your appointment details in MyCare or your appointment letter. If you still have concerns, contact the hospital department responsible for your care.
