Turning ideas into improvements in patient care

Research at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital is pertinent to patient needs.

Our research is focused on musculoskeletal as well as neuro-musculoskeletal conditions, rehabilitation, peripheral nerve injury repair, sarcoma detection, surgical treatments and much more.

We aim to deliver a research environment in close association with our main partner University College London Institute of Orthopaedics and Musculo-skeletal Sciences (IOMS).

IOMS has an international reputation and a track record for innovative translational research.

All of our projects involve significant input from clinicians, scientists and patients, and are supported by our experienced research administration, to deliver:

  • Over 60 on-going research projects
  • Recruitment in excess of 1000 patients a year
  • Demonstrable improvements in patient care

Patient & Public Involvement

Patient & Public Involvement

Our research aims to improve the care and lives of our patients. In order to deliver this promise, we need help from our patients, their carers and the public. Clinical research is not just about taking part in a specific study - there are many other ways to get involved.
