About the ward: Duke of Gloucester is a 24 bedded ward with 11 male and 11 female beds, and one male and one female side room. When recovering from surgery or having investigations performed you will want care, rest and comfort. Whether you are here for a day or a number of weeks, we want you and your family to feel well informed and understand what is happening. Our aim is to provide a clean and safe environment to maintain your privacy and dignity.

- Breakfast approximately from 07.30
- Lunch approximately from 12.15
- Supper approximately from 17.15
Beverages are served at interval throughout the day
Visiting times: are 13.00 – 20.00. Visiting outside these hours may be permitted on individual occasions by special arrangements with the nurse in charge.
Smoking is strictly prohibited in all areas.
Duke of Gloucester ward facilities
Day room: there is a dayroom on the ward on each side of the ward where a television is available.
Phones: there is no public phone on the ward, patients are allowed to use their own mobiles, and some patients bring in lap tops / DVD players which they watch while using headphones. You can connect to the WiFi service for patients
Shower rooms: there are two available on the male and female sides
Toilets: there are three available, two designated as wheelchair accessible
Post: will be delivered to your bedside should any arrive for you.
Nurse’s handover: this takes place at 07.30 - 08.00 each morning and 19.30 – 20.00 each evening at the patient’s bedside and the patient can be involved in this discussion.
Doctor's ward round: large round on Friday morning. Other teams at other times during the week.
