Today in the final day of National Volunteers' Week 2026 and, to mark that, we had the pleasure of hosting an afternoon tea to show our heartfelt appreciation for our wonderful volunteers. This year we celebrate the 11th year of the RNOH Volunteers Service.
It was fantastic to see so many of our amazing volunteers come together to enjoy tea, cakes, and sandwiches whilst swapping stories and getting to know each other better.
Stacey Evangelides, Head of Volunteering & Involvement, thanked her volunteering team and all the volunteers for their incredible contributions to the trust. She also thanked ISS for their support.
We also celebrate the 10th anniversary of the invaluable RNOH patient volunteer buggy service, and just two weeks ago it carried its 200,000 passenger!
Prof Paul Fish, RNOH CEO, said the organisation’s numerous accolades reflect the contributions of everyone in the Trust, including the thousands of volunteer hours that enhance patient and staff experience.
He also highlighted last week’s milestone of 200,000 patient journeys supported by the buggy service as one example of volunteers’ impact, adding: “Thank you seems too small. I couldn’t be more grateful—you are truly part of the RNOH team.”
Please take the time to celebrate the incredible efforts of our volunteers and all they contribute to RNOH. Their dedication and hard work make a world of difference.
Here at RNOH we are fortunate to have over 200 volunteers who support our patients and staff in a wide variety of ways such as driving our buggy, delivering meals, supporting our admin team and enhancing the patient experience.
The contribution of volunteers is sometimes unseen or unrecognised, visible only through the incredible impact of their volunteering. Therefore, taking the time during Volunteers’ Week to celebrate the efforts of our volunteers and all they contribute to RNOH has never been more important.
