The RNOH was a recipient of the Brittle Bone Society Excellence Award 2018 for its outstanding paediatric care for patients with rare metabolic bone conditions. Dr Richard Keen, Consultant in Metabolic Bone Disease, was presented with this award on our behalf. Dr Keen is Consultant in Metabolic Bone Diseases at the RNOH and undertakes important research into treatments for conditions such as Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bone disease).
The RNOHs Great Summer Bake-Off took place at the end of a sizzling hot May bank holiday. It was a tightly fought competition but our winners produced cakes of exceptional and taste and exquisite style.
Congratulations to Judith Fronda, Theatre nurse, whose beautifully decorated cake, "The Six", - chocolate with mocha and Swiss meringue - was a taste tingling delight. Christine Bows from Redevelopment, in her second foray as a baker, also came up trumps. Her RNOH Buttercup inspired cake won a runner-up prize. Our second runner-up, Sandrine Slavik's summer-themed and delicately decorated Coconut and Lime cake, was worthy of the accolade.
The latest issue of our patient magazine Reflexions has just been published online. It includes a report of the RNOH Staff Achievement Awards earlier this year, Volunteer Services news, some fascinating patient stories, Radio Brockley winning gold at the Hospital Broadcasting Association Awards, RNOH Charity news, plus lots more.
