Steps ahead: RNOH produces award-winning video

A video produced at the RNOH aimed at encouraging participation in clinical trials has won a prestigious national award.

The TARVA patient information video secured the prize in Round 4 of the NIHR (National Institute for Health Research) New Media Competition.

The film was directed by film maker Jan Letocha and features patients, including well-known actor Sylvester McCoy, discussing their experiences with ankle replacement and ankle arthrodesis.

The TARVA trial is the first randomised clinical trial comparing total ankle replacement against ankle arthrodesis for patients aged between 50 and 85 with ankle arthritis. The Chief Investigator for TARVA is Mr Andy Goldberg, Clinical Senior Lecturer In Trauma and Orthopaedics and Consultant Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeon at RNOH.
