The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust, through the efforts of the Infection Prevention and Control Team held the Hand Hygiene Week from the 2 May 2017 culminating with the celebration of WHO Hand Hygiene Day together with the global community on the 5 May 2017.

This year’s campaign emphasises on the importance of fighting antibiotic resistance by advocating hand hygiene action with the slogan ‘Fight Antibiotic Resistance: It’s in Your Hands’. The RNOH Infection Control Team enhanced hand hygiene awareness by actively promoting hand hygiene practices to staff, patients and visitors by having a Hand Hygiene Booth in different areas in the Trust throughout the week. With the aid of posters, slogans, and by giving away freebies such as hand hygiene badges, ID reels and hand gels; the Infection Control Team aspires to continually improve hand hygiene compliance.
