RNOH Stanmore Open Day 22nd April 2017
Following on from the success of our inaugural open day last year, RNOH Stanmore opens its doors to visitors on Saturday 22nd April to demonstrate the ground-breaking work and research that is shaping musculoskeletal medicine in the 21st Century and beyond.
This year's focus is about how we are using technology and innovation to improve patient care. Activities include guided tours of the new hospital redevelopment site, operating theatres and our research labs. The event is free of charge and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
Many of the leading medics and research scientists from RNOH will be on hand to show their work. This includes:
London Implant Retrieval Centre (LIRC) – see real hip replacement implants and talk to our experts about what we do and how our work can change the future.
ASPIRE Centre for Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology (ASPIRE CREATe) – learn about the exciting work on robotics and assistive technology which is helping patients with spinal cord injuries as well as other disabilities.
Biomedical Engineering – discover how implants are designed.
RNOH Research & Innovation Centre – learn about what sort of clinical research goes on within the hospital and how you can get involved.
Volunteer Services and RNOH Charity – explore the current opportunities available at the hospital with our fundraising and volunteering teams. Some of our volunteers will be on hand to guide and transport visitors around site on the day.
The RNOH is a recognised world leader in the field of orthopaedics and neuro-musculoskeletal medicine and treats more than 120,000 patients a year for conditions ranging from acute spinal injuries to sarcoma. As well as being a leading centre for surgery and rehabilitation, RNOH also has an international reputation and track record for innovative translational research, working in close partnerships with University College London (UCL).
