Amazing timelapse video of the Stanmore redevelopment
Since starting work in August 2016, work has progressed swiftly on the redevelopment of the RNOH at Stanmore and construction of the new Inpatient Ward Block. The demolition of the old Patient Centre, sorting of the waste materials for recycling, and preparation for the groundwork has meant there has been lots of work in recent months. This has all been captured in a fantastic timelapse video covering the activity so far between August-December 2016.
Over the past few weeks, there has been a huge drill creating piles filled with concrete to support the building. During the construction, there will be around 10,000m3 of earth taken away which is equivalent to 1,000 lorries or just over three Olympic sized swimming pools. If all the steel reinforcement in the piles were stuck end to end it would be 27km long and if all the piles were stuck end to end they would be over 8km long. And there's still plenty more to come!
