Promoting equality, diversity and human rights at RNOH
Our Equality Achievement Network (EAN) was set up last year by Elsy Gomez-Campos, EAN Chair and Deputy Chief Pharmacist at RNOH, to assist the Trust in developing a positive culture of promoting equality, diversity and human rights. EAN members meet once a month to provide a framework and forum for the Trust in order to meet its duties and responsibilities under equality and human rights legislation.
The EAN team met earlier this week to discuss the importance of race equality in achieving better patient outcomes and staff satisfaction at the RNOH. The discussion was led and facilitated by Yvonne Coghill OBE, Director of WRES Implementation at NHS England, and Byron Currie, Head of HR and OD at the NHS Leadership Academy. Network members and guest attendees felt the discussion was very inspirational and promising and look forward to continuing its work supporting the Workforce Race Equality Standard.
Our sincere thanks to Yvonne and Byron for insights into equality work in the NHS; lots of work still to do! And to Elsy for organising the event.
