7th International Society of Orthopaedic Centres
The RNOH has been hosting the 7th International Society of Orthopaedic Centres Conference at the Wellcome Collection in London. Leaders in orthopaedic medicine from all over the world have gathered to share knowledge about developments, innovations and challenges within one of the fastest expanding areas of medicine.
Prof Tim Briggs, National Director of Quality & Efficiency and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the RNOH, was joined by Rob Hurd, RNOH Chief Executive, in welcoming the delegates who arrived from as far away as Australia. Prof Briggs presented the findings of the Getting it Right First Time Report, exploring the issues it uncovered, the methodology used and the recommendations for improving quality and delivery of orthopaedic services in the UK. Other presentations included Stephen Nolan, Medical Director of Mater Hospital in Sydney, sharing their experience of the Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry (AOANJRR), Dr Laurent Audige from the Schulthess Klinik in Zürich on standardisation of complication reporting and Rob Hurd and Prof Briggs once again, rounding proceedings off by delivering the outputs from the ISOC benchmarking project.
The conference continues and concludes tomorrow (Friday 13). The next meeting of ISOC is scheduled for November 2017 in Sydney, Australia.
