MUJO: new frontiers in rehabilitation

Mujo and RNOH therapists

Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust therapies department is excited to be taking part in ground breaking collaboration project with MUJO Mechanics, University of Manchester and Qinec Ltd to identify new frontiers in rehabilitation.

The project aims to assess the usability of the MuJo™ Shoulder Solution in rehabilitation settings and will inform future usage of the system in modern healthcare and provide more information to design a larger scale study.

The MuJo™ Shoulder Solution is connected to a patient app which receives exercise prescriptions from treating physiotherapists. It enables collection of information of the patients’ progress, which is fed back to the clinical team. The physiotherapist portal and patient database, which will monitor patient compliance to exercise programmes, were developed by Qinec and are hosted on their secure platform. The system provides an interactive option for patients with shoulder problems and enables better control to prevent patient injury.

Initial user feedback from therapists and patients has been positive and the integration of the computer interface offers other possibilities. If successful, the solution could change the way physiotherapy is delivered to patients in the future.

The project is co-funded by Innovate UK and included as part of the National Institute of Health Research Portfolio.
