Andy Burnham visits RNOH
Shadow Secretary of Health, Andy Burnham, and prospective Labour Party candidate for Harrow East, Uma Kumaran, visited RNOH this week to hear about plans for the long-awaited redevelopment that was recently approved by the Trust Development Authority.
Mr Burnham last visited the hospital back in 2010 when, as Secretary of State for Health, he agreed to the redevelopment going ahead. However, after the election of a new government, the work didn’t progress as planned and the money initially earmarked for the redevelopment ended up being used for maintenance of the estate. During the visit, Mr Burnham and Ms Kumaran were accompanied by Mat Shaw, Deputy Chief Executive and Medical Director, who showed them around Ward 4 and the London Spinal Cord Injury Centre, where they met patients and staff.
