Radio Brockley triumph at National Hospital Radio Awards
Radio Brockley picked up four awards at the annual Hospital Broadcast Association (HBA) Awards, on Saturday 28 March. The station was recognised in all of their shortlisted categories, including a silver award for 'Station of The Year', going one better than their bronze award in 2014.
Radio Brockley were also presented with bronze awards for 'Special Event', 'Best Promo' and for the station's Marge Walker in the 'Best Female Presenter' category.
Emma Joyce, Radio Brockley Trustee commented after the event; "This recognition means so much to us at Radio Brockley. We have a great bunch of members who give up much of their spare time to make a difference for the patients and the hospital, and to pick up four awards is a tribute to the hard work and commitment of the RB Team. The fact that we out-performed our fellow London stations on the night is an added bonus as we are officially still London's number one hospital radio station! We are also beginning planning ahead of our 50th birthday next year so this will give us some extra momentum too!"
The award ceremony, held this year in Gosforth Park, Newcastle, was the climax to a packed three-day agenda hosted by the HBA for hospital volunteers across the UK. Hospital Radio Plymouth scooped the top prize for 2015 after being named Station of the Year.
The action unfolded on Twitter as it happened, allowing those who couldn't make the journey to Newcastle to follow the night via #HBAUK2015.
