1000 days without MRSA bacteraemia acquired at RNOH
The Trust has passed a significant milestone of 1000 days without any incidence of MRSA bacteraemia acquired at the Trust.
This is the outcome of excellent theatre practice, rigorous surveillance, regular staff training and reduced length of stay through initiatives such as the Trust’s enhanced recovery programme and integrated patient pathways, which recently attracted a national care integration award.
Camilla Wiley, Director of Nursing, said “We have an excellent record of maintaining zero MRSA bacteraemia for the longest period in acute Trusts in the UK. This has had a direct positive impact on care and outcomes for our patients. We take a zero tolerance approach to avoidable infections and whilst there is no room for complacency, we are very pleased to have reached this 1000-day milestone”.
