Miss Anna Panagiotidou is a Consultant Peripheral Nerve Surgeon and Clinical Lead of the Peripheral Nerve Injury Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. She specialises exclusively in the management of complex peripheral nerve disorders, including traumatic brachial plexus injuries, obstetric plexus palsy, nerve compression syndromes, nerve tumours and complex nerve reconstruction of the upper and lower limb.

She completed her higher specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedics on the University College London rotation, where she developed a focused interest in peripheral nerve injury, upper limb surgery and complex limb trauma with nerve involvement. During this time, she undertook a PhD in Orthopaedic Surgery at University College London, establishing a strong academic foundation and a lasting commitment to evidence-based surgical practice. Her research training continues to inform both her clinical decision-making and her contribution to the wider academic field.

Miss Panagiotidou subsequently undertook advanced fellowship training at the Peripheral Nerve Injury Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital - one of the highest-volume centres nationally for complex nerve injury. Exposure to a breadth of challenging pathology, including traumatic and birth-related brachial plexus injuries and intricate reconstructive procedures, shaped her subspecialist expertise. She later joined the consultant team within the unit and now leads the service as Clinical Lead, overseeing its clinical delivery, strategic direction and multidisciplinary collaboration while maintaining a high-volume surgical practice.

She is actively involved in the national development of peripheral nerve services as a member of the NHS England specialised services commissioning work group, contributing to the establishment and refinement of national pathways for brachial plexus and peripheral nerve injuries.

Miss Panagiotidou continues to pursue research and innovation within the unit. She collaborates with colleagues at the UCL Centre for Nerve Engineering and the UCL Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases on funded research projects, contributing to advances in imaging, surgical technique and long-term outcomes in nerve injury. The unit’s scale and structured follow-up provide a strong platform for ongoing peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international meetings.

She is a regularly invited faculty member on British Elbow and Shoulder Society instructional courses and remains committed to education and mentorship within orthopaedics. Her professional affiliations include the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Royal Society of Medicine, the British Orthopaedic Association and the Global Nerve Foundation.

Miss Panagiotidou’s practice is characterised by meticulous assessment, technical precision and a thoughtful, collaborative approach to patients with complex and often life-changing nerve conditions.
