If you do have a particular interest concerning these or anything else to do with the hospital that you wish to be involved with then why not become a patient representative? There are many ways that you can become involved in influencing the service we provide and you don't have to be a patient to be part of this.

You do not have to attend meetings here unless you wish to. You may give us your views by post, phone, fax or email.

The work of the Forum is part of the Government’s overall strategy to improve patients’ experiences of the health service as defined in the legislation in the NHS Reform and Health Care Professions Act (2002). Health & Safety at Work Act
Patient representative's are reminded that, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, they have a duty to take responsible care to avoid injury to themselves and to others by their work activities and they are obliged to co-operate with the Trust and others in meeting statutory requirements.

Personal Injury
Visitors may be covered for losses arising from personal injuries incurred while directly engaged in Patient Representative activities within the Trust.

Loss/Damage of Personal Effects
The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust accepts no liability for loss or damage to Patient representatives personal effects arising from burglary, fire, theft or otherwise, incurred during the period of their activity in the hospital. Volunteers are therefore advised to provide their own insurance cover.

Confidentiality
I accept that it is a condition of my Patient representative activities at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust, that all personal information in respect of patients, staff and other patient representatives, which comes to my knowledge, directly or indirectly, through the course of my activities shall be treated as confidential and shall not be discussed with, or disclosed to any person including the patients, staff members or other representatives concerned. I understand that a breach of this condition could result in my Patient Representative membership being withdrawn. I also understand that a breach of confidence could result in an action for civil damages.

If you are involved in any procedures that include access to computer systems or data, you are responsible for your own actions and for ensuring security in compliance with UK/EEC legislation, the Data Protection Act 1998 (etc.) and Trust Policies. In particular you should note that security passwords may not be shared or divulged.
