Staff development

Staff education & development

We believe that staff development is key to the delivery of high quality, patient focused care and so the Trust offers many opportunities for development at RNOH.

The Trust is building a skills escalator approach, working closely with local colleges and training providers to secure provision of key work/life skills, computer skills and English as a second language. In addition, staff may take up an individual learning account (ILA) to support their continuing professional development, whether a course or learning materials. There are also a range of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), which staff can choose from, whether in Care, Business Administration or Management.

We work very closely with London Southbank University and the University of Hertfordshire who provide pre and post-registration courses. In addition, the Trust has a Tree of Knowledge lifelong learning programme which is available to all staff and provides a range of mandatory, personal and professional development courses.

The Trust has introduced the Knowledge and Skills Framework to support the appraisal process and all staff are encouraged to have an appraisal and a personal development plan.
