The service is run by two Consultants specializing in acute pain, together with two specialist Acute Pain Nurses. Consultant ward rounds are performed twice weekly on post operative patients, who are seen daily by the acute pain nurses. Patients likely to have complex post operative pain problems are identified and referred preemptively to the pain team. A full range of post operative analagesia options are available at RNOH including Patient Controlled Analgesia, peripheral nerve blocks, spinals, and epidurals.
